Dear Art of Spanish Students and Friends,
In this month's issue, we explore Playa del Carmen with Shelly Goss and Italy with one of our Italian students, Lisa Weber. Spring is here and travel envy is in the air, so make sure you read all about our students experiences and perhaps you'll be inspired and discover the destination of your next trip. Happy April and happy Spanish! Sincerely,
Javier Morganti

| Student of the month - RONALD WEBER |
Ronald Weber has been studying Spanish with the Institute for more than 5 years. He was my first student at Cafe Europa. He saw the Institute grow and at the same time I watched his Spanish knowledge grow. He is a fire firefighter and uses a lot Spanish in his profession, and I can tell that he loves what he does. In the last 5 years, I've gotten to know Ron very well as a student and as a person. Not only do we spend time studying, but we also practice outside of the classroom. He likes skiing like me, and sometimes we spend the day at the mountains skiing and having fun! I can't remember Ron canceling a class or coming to class without being prepared or having done his homework. I think because he is a good student and a good firefighter, he must always be ready. Zelma earned her M.A. in Linguistics as well as her B.A. in Modern Foreign Languages with a major in Italian language and culture at the University of Puerto Rico. This means that she acquired the theoretical knowledge of the structure of languages and the development of linguistic and cultural competencies as a graduate student after being formally trained in Italian grammar (spoken and written), literature, history and culture during her undergraduate years. She also studied abroad at L’Università degli Studi di Urbino ‘Carlo Bo’in Urbino, Italy, where she had the opportunity of speaking, listening, reading, writing, and breathing in Italian. Zelma immediately fell in love with the country, the people, and especially the language, and she is looking forward to sharing her knowledge and experiences with others. Zelma has taught and tutored Spanish and English speakers of all ages in Spanish, English and Italian. As a student of foreign languages, she can relate with her students, so she tries to make the learning process a fun and rewarding experience. |
